Professional Bio:

Tegan is a Specialist Occupational Therapist who graduated from her selection course in OT with Honours from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. This is where her love for science, the brain and the human narrative was ignited.

After studying, Tegan spent most of her time in the private sector, working for one of South Africa’s leading behavioural healthcare groups which offer specialist psychiatric and psychological care. Here, Tegan was employed to research, implement and manage the therapeutic programme for the new 25 bed inpatient adolescent unit.

Tegan later continued to plan, implement and oversee an inpatient adolescent eating disorder unit, a first of its kind in the private healthcare sector in South Africa. During this time, she completed her PGDip in Addiction Care in Psychiatry and opened up her private practice working with adolescents and young adults.

In 2021, Tegan moved to London to join London’s leading psychiatric hospital. During her two years, Tegan continued to work in the specialist ED Unit within an MDT team.
She developed the first OT department for the hospital, and provided supervision to the OT’s working in the general psychiatric unit and OCD/BDD units and supported them with complex cases. Tegan was also asked to be the Acting Lead EDU Therapist which she accepted.

Tegan now works as the Head of Occupational Therapy at an Eating Disorder Recovery Centre in London, alongside her private practice and sees clients from Namibia, South Africa and the UK. Tegan is also a student at the Carolyn Costin Institute, studying to become an Eating Disorder Recovery Coach.
